A new Rugrats game is coming to the NES in 2024

Who is ready for some really exciting nostalgia? A new Rugrats game is coming to the NES, over 40 years after the console's original release.

That's right, Tommy Pickles and the Rugrats gang are back in a brand new adventure designed for the classic 8-bit system. The game titled Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland, will feature side-scrolling platformer gameplay, offering a nostalgic experience for fans of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon.

Limited Run who are publishing the game aren't just releasing this Rugrats game for NES though, this title caters to the entire gaming community and it will be available for Switch, Xbox and PlayStation.

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland brings a baby-fresh take on retro gameplay. By mixing elements from the NES era with modern design sensibilities, today’s parents can introduce kids to a nostalgic franchise through an adorable co-op adventure for up to two players where babies must stick together to win. Toggle between 8-bit art for an authentic retro gameplay experience and HD art featuring hand-drawn animations for a trip straight back to the iconic Nickelodeon TV show. If you are purchasing the NES cartridge, you will only have the opportunity to play the 8-bit version of the game, given the limitations of the console. But the retro pixel charm is where all the fun is! As always with Limited Run, fans will be able to purchase a standard copy without extra bells and whistles or a special edition version of the game. There will be a VHS Edition containing the game, VHS-styled retro box and slipcover, and a steel book. There’ll also be a collector’s edition with everything we just mentioned plus a door hinge box, 6″ vinyl Reptar figure (six points of articulation on his head, tail, arms, and legs), official soundtrack, and certificate of authenticity.
